Recap: O'Keefe Prize Award Ceremony

Last Wednesday - April 18, to be exact - was the award ceremony for Diablo Valley College's James O'Keefe Prize for Graphic Literature.  During the event, a certain comic about beard-based particulates was given recognition via the George Herriman Grand Prize!  Excitement!  I don't have any photos of the event, but here's some relevant links:

Diablo Valley College Awards Its Students' Graphic Ambitions - an online news article from the Graphic Novel Reporter about the event!

The James O'Keefe Prize Blog - the official blog for the O'Keefe Prize, which includes a link to previous winning entries!

Other highlights included strawberry-filled cake and a special appearance by Joe Field, owner of Flying Colors Comics and founder of Free Comic Book Day.  It was a blast to see the other winning entries and their creators, and the camaraderie throughout the event was fantastic.  Thanks to the O'Keefe Prize committee for the award, and congrats to the other entrants!  For the glory of comics!
